Beyond the Classroom - Well-rounded Education in Cambridge IGCSE at OWIS

The Cambridge IGCSE forms a bridge to the IB Diploma Programme

We have opted for the Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10 as this course serves as an excellent preparatory ground for the rigorous IB Diploma Programme that we follow in Grades 11 and 12.

Our students in the IGCSE grades hone their research skills, learn about time management and self-discipline, and get prepared for external examinations and assessments in their two-year course. By the time they enter the IB DP grades, they understand the importance of both these aspects of academic life – having a deep understanding of subject matter as well as having the academic rigour to achieve their objectives.

The Cambridge IGCSE Programme is the ideal option for an international school, such as OWIS.

This is because the Cambridge IGCSE is an examination that holds students to internationally recognised standards. This means that a student who studies for the Cambridge IGCSE at One World International School in Singapore will be held to the same standards as one who is enrolled in a school in other countries where this programme is offered.

This consistency allows students to be better prepared for a global economy after graduation, and is one of the main IGCSE benefits. It also provides learners with the confidence that they need and to know that their learning material will be both relevant and valuable to them in the future.

Parent & Alumni Testimonials

Janelle R., IBDP Batch of 2021

My teachers were incredibly supportive of me and my classmates when doing IB and some really went out of their way to help us as much as they could, which I appreciated so much.

Adeliya F., IBDP Batch of 2023

At OWIS, I've learnt a lot about communication, and how it's important to be proactive, not reactive. I've also learnt that kindness and empathy are key in leadership and collaborative work.

Christina O.

I like that technology plays enough of a part within my children's studies but does not dominate basic skills towards literacy with reading, writing and presentation. There is very much a balance.
